Timeshare cancellation windows, state by state
Every state sets its own window to cancel a new timeshare purchase, and all of them are short: days, not weeks. This table links each state’s own law. Read yours; don’t take our word for it.

Before you count days
- Most windows cover purchases from the developer. Resales are usually different.
- Some states count from signing; others from when you receive required documents, whichever is later. Rows note this.
- Calendar days include weekends. Business days don’t, and each state defines its own holidays. The statute controls.
- Several statutes also say how a cancellation must be delivered, for example by certified mail. Read the full text before acting.
- Contracts sometimes promise a longer period than the statute. Read your contract’s own cancellation section too.
How this table is maintained
Each row was checked against the statute text at the linked source on the date shown. Where a legislature site couldn’t be reached, the row was checked against a published mirror and marked with an asterisk. When MiraPact can’t verify a state’s rule, the row says so instead of guessing. If you find an error, the contact address is in the footer. Corrections ship fast.
Common questions
Which state’s law applies to my purchase?
Often the state where you signed, but contracts can name another state’s law, and where you signed isn’t always where the resort is. MiraPact doesn’t decide this for you. A lawyer can. Start by reading the cancellation section of your own contract.
My state shows no number. Does that mean I can’t cancel?
No. It means MiraPact didn’t find a timeshare-specific statutory window it could verify. Your contract may grant one, other laws may apply, and a lawyer may see options. Missing information here never means no right exists.
Does MiraPact calculate my exact deadline?
In Nevada, it can show a document-confirmed conditional candidate date when your uploaded contract supports it. Everywhere else it shows the statute’s window and, during the free check, an illustrative count for calendar-day states. None of that is a legal determination.
MiraPact provides contract information and financial analysis. It is not a law firm, it does not give legal advice, and it does not sell a cancellation or exit service. For what a rule means in your case, talk to an independent lawyer.
